DogBox is the UK’s only mobile dog research facility.

Using DogBox we are able to drive to owners, dog shelters and dog shows to study dog behaviour and welfare.

Using the state of the art facilities, our studies aim to better understand dog behaviour or improve dog welfare. We like to make use of new technologies like accelerators attached to collars, high speed cameras to film movements, touch screen systems to understand how dogs think, and thermal cameras to see the temperature of different parts of the body.

DogBox is a space for dogs and owners for observing behaviour, dog-owner interactions, dog movements, to test dogs’ understanding of basic concepts, and even look at dog’s facial expressions.

We have a pool of local volunteers who help with our research. These are typically dog owners who are keen to know more about how their dogs think, feel, or why they behave the way they do.
