Hi, i’m Cameron, I have worked as a research assistant in ABLAB for over a year now while also recently completing a Computer Science masters from Newcastle University. My work is based in the computation aspects of animal welfare.
The projects I have worked on are mainly focused on computer vision and machine learning, involving optical flow and thermal imaging. These will be used to track metrics automatically that are used for welfare assessment. This can be used for automatic detection of piling events in laying hens or identifying injured hens within a group.
